Here we have a nicely equiped Land Cruiser 77 wagon (pre-facelift) with the 1hd-ft turbo diesel 4.2 L inline 6, 33 inch MT’s getting fitted with air lockers. Turns out this guy (I don’t know his name) really likes Cruiser, as he has 32(!) more of them.
And the reason I was at the shop...I bought a fridge. Still trying to decide if 47L is going to be big enough or if i should jump up to the 60L, but its always been big enough in the past so...
Either way, Im excited to finally have my own fridge!

I think I’m in love. If I could option out a cruiser I’d end up almost exactly with that one.

Im starting to know the local crew, I’m not “in” with them yet (maybe ever? Im not sure I care really) but I certainly know a few. I guess Kurt said that he might run a customer appreciation tour of Greg Millers cruiser museum (by appointment only) sometime in the winter, that will probably be a good time to make some friends.

I believe you made the right choice on this one - you’ll walk us through the install, right?
ETA: Also, what does one do with 32 Land Cruisers?

install? I think at this points its “plug it in”. I previously installed a battery hot Cig lighter in the back of the cruiser so I could use their rental fridge. I would be happy to put together something on how that went together though. On that topic, Kurt and I were having a laugh about the “recommended wire” that ARB suggests for this dedicated line “for runs up to 6m you we recommend a wire of at least 6mm diameter” um...what? That’s a 3 gauge wire.
So rated for at LEAST 60 amps at 20 feet with a 3% current drop, given that the fridge is fused for 15 amps....
Anyway, I have 12 gauge in my install and it never heats up running the fridge, though I think I will upgrade to 10, so I can put in another outlet or two (one hella plug and 2 usb)
For battery hot installs all you need is a wire run, and an inline fuse off the main (or house) battery. Nothing special.

1. How does one acquire 32 Cruisers? Obviously with money and internet etc, but like he got to 22 Cruisers and said “not quite there yet.”
2. Where does one store 32 Cruisers? Is Utah fairly dry so storing them outside is no big deal? Or does he have some sort of mancave of the gods containing nearly three dozen Toyotas?
I have so many more questions.

me too, but he’s still not even close to the largest Utah collector of Cruiser, Greg Miller...his collection is up to 105 cruisers.
PART of the collection

Wow, that’s a real collection, not just the field or barn full of them I was expecting. Amazing.

Well, its the Land Cruiser Museum, so there should be a few. Most of those are his though. those 3 in front have been to all 7 continents (or at least one has)

Ah, that makes sense. Are you going to build a drawer for a permanent situation, or leave it portable?

It wont be permanent, but I’m still debating a rudimentary drawer system. Its something I would LOVE to have touring, but makes life more difficult day to day. For now its just going to get strapped in like it always has been.

I’ve seen this guy around the internet! He has a website with a list of all the Land Cruisers he’s owned. Can’t remember his name, but if you google ‘hzj77', you’ll see a picture of this exact rig which will take you to his site.
Also, I thought these were naturally aspirated with the 1HZ (not the 1HD-FT)?

I only got a quick glance, it looked like the HD, but it could have been the HZ, they both look similar from the top. I wonder if its Micah...

Also, this guy has some pretty new-ish Arab spec 70 series Land Cruisers that seem to be registered in CA of all places, watsupwitdat?
